Woodstock Residential Home, ideally situated in Sittingbourne, is a 55 bedded Dual Registered home providing residential care for both the frail older person and for people suffering with Dementia. Re-designed in the middle of 2007, it has been renovated to a high standard.
Woodstock is located in a quiet, residential area on the outskirts of Sittingbourne, 2 miles from the town centre and a main railway station. The premises are large with good car parking facilities to the front and a well maintained established garden to the rear. Residents' accommodation is on 2 floors accessed by passenger lifts.
There is a mixture of single and companion rooms, some with en-suite and showering facilities, all linked by a Nurse Call System. The Dementia unit, known as The Lodge, is separate from the residential area of the home and has its own secure gardens and patio area. The Lodge has been designed in accordance with Stirling University's research into creating a safe and stimulating environment for those with dementia.
There are several communal lounges offering choice of environment and activity. Each lounge is comfortably furnished offering a homely atmosphere. The home is also equipped with shower rooms and adapted bathroom facilities.
The location of the home allows residents to enjoy days out to the seaside for fish and chip lunches with ease, as it is only 30 minutes drive away. Also, the nearby craft centre is a favourite outing for many of the residents.
There are a number of local pubs and restaurants in the area, as well as a newly
Patio-ed secure rear garden, that is ideal for barbeques - relatives and friends are more than welcome to attend!
Residents are encouraged to help with the planting and tending to of the flowerbeds throughout the summer months and the home plans a number of outdoor activities -
Of course, some residents prefer to stay indoors, so for the homebodies, we provide "pampering days" where external specialists come to the home to provide massages, chiropody and other treats. We also have exercise tutors, who are trained in elderly and dementia specialist methods come to the home on a regular basis.
Some residents, of course, just prefer the bingo!
Our manager, Mrs Gail Edey, has many years experience managing care homes and leads a dedicated and skilled team of well-trained and loyal staff.
