A Christmas catch up with Princess Christian Care Home

We have had a busy couple of weeks here at Princess Christian Care Home. We took our lovely residents to a Tea Dance in Woking and we all wore our Christmas hats – a great time was had by all! Two of our residents – Barry and Pat – put on a good show for everyone, it was like ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ all over again.

We also sent off our first letters to our Penpals at a local school so we’re looking forward to receiving our replies any day now. We had the lovely pupils from St John the Baptist School, and their wonderful teacher Sam, visit us with a group of pupils from the drama department. They recently performed ‘Grease’ as a Christmas production at school, and they performed various songs for us all to enjoy – what a talented lot they are! Our residents joined in and some even got up to do the actions to ‘Grease Lightning’. Everyone had such a fabulous time.

We held our Christmas Residents party on Friday 14 December and our surprise guests included Father Christmas, a giant snowman and our Manager (Mario Taherian) riding an elf – the mind boggles! Our staff really go into the spirit by wearing Christmas jumpers. We had the pleasure of our Deputy Mayor and his partner who handed out awards to our Physiotherapist Leo Mathew for Employee of the Month, as well as a Top Volunteer award to one of our resident’s wife, Pam. Pam visits the Home at least twice a day and she’s always ready to lend a hand. She also brings in Milton, her beautiful dog, for Pet Therapy once a week. Congratulations to you both, Leo and Pam!

Our Chef Cosmin won the Christmas jumper award at the Christmas party. He and the Kitchen team supplied a scrumptious buffet, as always, as well as purée snacks which meant everyone could enjoy the Christmas feast. We are off to the Cathedral on Thursday 20 December to the Carol Concert which always proves very popular with residents.

Everyone at Princess Christian wishes you a very happy Christmas and good luck, good health and happiness for 2019.
