A fun fortnight at Princess Christian Care Home

Here at Princess Christian Care Home we’ve had a very busy couple of weeks, enjoying fundraising, time with friends and family and the lovely weather.

On Saturday 8th September we took up residence in The Mall in Camberley town centre for the day to raise awareness about Dementia and World Alzheimer’s Day, fundraising with our collection buckets. We were a vision of ‘pink’ in our outfits and were delighted to speak to so many people. We will also soon be hosting a pub quiz, with all the proceeds going towards our Alzheimer’s fundraising total.

Our day out was followed by a surprise 60th birthday party for our Home Manager Mario, who enjoyed a special moment when his eldest daughter and two of his oldest friends arrived from abroad. Our catering team laid on a delicious buffet with one of the biggest cakes we’d ever seen – it was amazing!

Singer Najwa performed at the party and we were impressed to see residents and staff showing off their dancing skills! We had some delightful displays from our flower arranging group, so our Home looked and smelled wonderful. Our cooking group made some very tasty cheesecakes which soon disappeared off the tray, as well as chocolate-decorated chocolate muffins!

We’ve been making the most of the good weather over the last few weeks and have enjoyed a summer stroll around our local lake. Our craft group has been busy making more dream catchers which we have displayed in our conservatory – very colourful they look too.

And we have chicken news! We took delivery of a new chicken house which we put together ourselves (well done to our Activities team!) and our birds look very happy indeed in their smart new pad.
