A month of music, dance and cakes at Princess Christian Care Home

This past month has been a very busy one at Princess Christian Care Home, with all our fundraising going on – from pub quizzes to bucket collections in nearby towns.

We have had visits from a number of entertainers. Our wonderful Najwa, who is a firm favourite with our residents, came in to sing for us and we also welcomed ‘Billy and Roger’ who had everyone in stitches with his singing puppets and wig collections! As usual, our residents sang and danced along, as did visitors and staff!

We had some lovely walks around the lake to make the most of this late summer weather and we also took a group of our residents to the HG Wells Conference Centre in Woking for a ‘Strictly Tea Dance‘. They were taught jazz steps and some seated dance moves, and they very much enjoyed joining in the dance sessions. Who knows, you may see them on the next episode of Strictly Come Dancing! We were treated to tea and cakes during our outing and fun was had by all.

We had a visit to our local garden centre to view all the festive decorations they now have on display. We also have some very talented artists amongst our dear residents and I hope to frame their work soon and display it in our Home.

Our cake sale this month was enjoyed by everyone, but we made sure we all participated in our musical gym session, to burn off those extra calories! Our cooking club treated us to homemade pizzas, as well as delicious cinnamon swirls – we shall have to monitor Manager Mario’s intake of all these goodies, as his waistline will be expanding!

We are holding a Halloween Party for our children next week, so our residents can join them making spooky cakes and playing Halloween games, as well as dressing up of course!
