Bromley Park Care Home receives End of Life Care Award

Bromley Park Care Home is delighted to have been awarded an End of Life Care Award for completing the ‘Steps to Success’ Programme, working in partnership with St Christopher’s Hospice to improve End of Life Care.

The ‘Six Steps to Success‘ programme aims to enhance end of life care through facilitating organisational change and supporting and educating staff to develop their roles around end of life care.

The scheme recognises the importance of having key staff to champion end of life care;

‘At the core of Programme is the nomination of two or three representatives from the Home. Having representatives for end of life care will ensure each care home has champions who have access to current national and local information. They will be supported to develop their knowledge and skills and encouraged to empower and educate staff within their organisation to deliver end of life care.’

The programme covers six individual steps, which address the key aspects relating to end of life care:

  • Step 1 – Discussions as end of life approaches
  • Step 2 – Assessment, care planning and review
  • Step 3 – Coordination of care
  • Step 4 – Delivery of high quality care in care homes
  • Step 5 – Care in the last days of life
  • Step 6 – Care after death

Bromley Park Care Home Manager, Catherine Ogbogu-Sang, is delighted at the achievement, commenting;

“I am very honoured and proud that we achieved this Award. The Award is just the tip of the iceberg for the outstanding care that is given at Bromley Park. Well done to an amazing, priceless and diligent team!”

Congratulations to the Bromley Park team for their commitment to this scheme and drive to deliver the highest quality care to those in their last stages of life, and their family members.
