Crafts, music and time together at Abbotsleigh Care Home

We’ve been busy with our residents recently at Abbotsleigh Care Home – we do love a full social calendar!

We had a session making lavender bags in the week, which was very relaxing; infact, we had so much lavender that it nearly sent us all to sleep! We have hung the scented bags in some of our residents’ wardrobes to make their clothes smell lovely.

We enjoyed some pet therapy time with Reuben our PAT dog and also the horses from the RDA, whose visits we always look forward to as we love to see them.

Michael Lack, singer and saxophonist, visited Abbotsleigh and gave us a brilliant performance of some old classic songs, which we all tapped our feet and sang along to, which is always great fun. We love Michael’s energy and always enjoy reminiscing with tunes from the past.

The music continued when we were lucky enough to have a visit from a wonderful blind pianist who tried out our piano by playing a couple of songs to us. She really moved us with her talent – her playing and singing was beautiful. We are looking forward to her coming back in January for a full performance.

Christmas shopping was also on the agenda this week! We enjoyed getting some lovely personalised presents for our residents to open on Christmas day.

We also spent plenty of one-to-one time with our residents – watching their favourite TV shows, reading the newspapers and completing jigsaw puzzles and crosswords. We also enjoyed dancing to sixties music, chatting, laughing and enjoying each others company.

What a great week here at Abbotsleigh!
