Dressed up pets and Chinese New Year at Princess Christian Care Home

We have been busy bees here at Princess Christian Care Home, with a fantastic calendar of memorable activities.

We’ve had visits from our lovely singer Najwa, who has been performing songs for us as well as running music therapy sessions with some of our residents, which have had some amazing results.

Dress us your Pet Day

We held a ‘Dress us your Pet Day‘ which was lots of fun. People brought in some lovely photos of cats and dogs in cute costumes and accessories. We did dress up Tottie our own Home cat, but she wasn’t too amused! Our residents chose two winners which were Louie the puppy and Maggie the dog – well done all!

We also celebrated ‘National hat day’ in January and all our residents were very creative and enjoyed taking part. We couldn’t choose a winner, so treats were given to all.

Dignity Action Day

Dignity Action Day was on 1 February and we made lots of treats for our residents to enjoy. We also held a morning of pampering for our ladies and gents and welcomed a singer into our Home in the afternoon to entertain us all – our residents loved this and enjoyed singing and dancing along.

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year by making colourful lanterns and our Recreation & Well-Being team made a delicious array of pancake rolls, prawn toast, veggie dumplings and prawn crackers for residents to try, all served with sweet chilli and plum sauces. Delicious!

Singer Najwa dressed up and entertained us with her music and even taught us some Chinese words. Each of our Units also made a wonderful Chinese dragon from arts and crafts materials – they look really colourful displayed around our Home.

We have a busy month ahead with lots of interesting activities planned. We have set a date for our penpal school children to come and meet up with their penpal buddies here at Princess Christian. We will be hosting a party for them, so we are all very much looking forward to meeting them for the first time.
