Residents enjoy Pet Therapy with an exotic twist
The ladies and gentlemen at Woodstock Residential Care Home had a Pet Therapy session with a difference on Monday 13 August. A mobile mini zoo paid us a visit and brought their furry (and slimy!) friends for residents to experience.
Residents were able to hold a variety of exotic creatures including snakes, rats, a tortoise and a giant snail – they also got to look at tarantula up-close! Margaret said, “the snail was slimy”, and she wasn’t sure if she liked the way it felt.
Pet Therapy certainly brings a lot of joy to our residents here at Woodstock, along with feelings of companionship, comfort and raised self-esteem. A visit from a furry friend or a creepy crawly, however short, provides an enjoyable break from the normal daily routine.
