Loose Valley Care Home Remembrance Poppy Display

We’ve been busy this week at Loose Valley Care Home assembling poppies made out of tissue paper. These were for our Home display – a 100 year memorial to the 8 million soldiers who died and 21 million injured during the conflict.

We decorated twigs from our garden with knitted and tissue paper poppies and created a really eye-catching display. We then made poppy ‘trees’ using mini milk bottles, straws and polystyrene balls covered with all of the handmade poppies made by our residents. These represent war from the end to the present day 1918 – 2018, with gold hearts attached to blue ribbon.

On Wednesday 7 November, three of our residents helped staff to make poppy wreaths. We spent the afternoon chatting, assembling the wreaths, and of course, enjoying a well-deserved cup of tea!

So we are now very proud to have a lovely display of red poppies for Remembrance Sunday – they look wonderful.
