Lulworth House Residential Care Home residents visit Maidstone Museum

We’ve had a busy few weeks here at Lulworth House Residential Care Home, with lots of varied activities going on for our residents to enjoy.

Badminton

We love to keep fit and what better way to get active than a game of badminton? We put up our indoor net and our residents and staff enjoyed taking part.

It was brilliant to see so many smiles and such confidence as our residents built up their flare and love of badminton, practising their back hands, clear shots, drop shots and smashes – such a lot of fun!

Our residents are always astonished at how well they do and how much they contribute to this group exercise session. We look forward to the next one!

Trip to Maidstone Museum

On Tuesday 22nd January we took a group of our residents to visit Maidstone Museum, which features impressive collections of historical objects, fine art and natural history – all based in Chillington Manor, a beautiful Elizabethan mansion.

We spent time looking around and chatting about the interesting displays, which included an Egyptian collection, Tudor Great Hall, Geology & Dinosaurs section, natural history and Japanese Gallery.

With so much to see, we are planning to go back again soon!

Burns Night

We had fun celebrating Burns Night together on Friday 25 January.

Recognised annually, Burns Night celebrates the life of the poet Robert Burns (born on January 25, 1759) and his contribution to Scottish culture. His best known work is ‘Auld Lang Syne’.

What Burns celebration would be complete without a haggis?! Jason, our Dining Assistant, dressed up in a very fetching Scottish tartan outfit and served up a hearty combination of haggis and ‘tatties’ for our residents to enjoy. We also took to the dance floor to celebrate the occasion which was great fun!

Memory Boxes

We are thrilled with our new ‘Memory Boxes‘ which have been made for our residents by members of our staff team.

Each memory box features an individual resident and includes photographs, keepsakes and decorations which are unique to them and give insight into their life and personality.

We have put them up outside our residents’ rooms, to provide a beautiful way to identify each individual bedroom. They provide brilliant talking points for our residents, staff and visitors, and can trigger happy memories about the past, which is wonderful.
