Nellsar Homes spread compassion and community spirit for Cake4Kindness Day

This November, Nellsar Homes proudly supported the third annual Cake4Kindness Day, a heart-warming national initiative launched by Neel Radia, National Chair of the National Association of Care Catering (NACC). The campaign inspires people to bake and share cakes with local charities, food banks and community groups – spreading kindness, connection and joy to those facing hardship or loneliness. Across Nellsar, our residents and team members rolled up their sleeves to mix, bake and decorate with love, creating beautiful batches of cupcakes to gift locally.

At Hengist Field Care Home, residents turned their lounge into a lively bake shop, complete with icing and sprinkles, producing colourful cupcakes topped with flowers and butterflies. Their delicious creations were donated to Age Concern Faversham, sharing warmth and kindness within their community.

Lulworth House Residential Care Home took part with a fun-filled baking session, where residents made and decorated vanilla cupcakes before delivering them to Lily Smith House, a local service supporting homeless adults. Their visit was met with smiles and heartfelt thanks.

Meanwhile, St Winifreds Care Home baked a wonderful array of homemade cakes for United Families UK, a local charity providing pantry support to families in need. The team worked together with creativity and enthusiasm, proud to make a difference to their community.

At Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home, residents Ellen and Monica personally delivered their beautifully iced cupcakes to The British Heart Foundation and Ellenor Hospice charity shops in Dartford, as a thank you to hardworking staff and volunteers. The recipients were delighted, describing the gesture as an unexpected treat that made their day.

Residents baked classic school-style cupcakes at The Old Downs Residential Care Home, for Animal Samaritans, a small Kent-based charity rescuing and rehoming cats and other animals in need. The donation was a thoughtful way to give back to an organisation close to the Home’s heart – especially as two of their foster cats, Charlie and Bruce, are regular visitors.

Woodstock Care Home celebrated World Kindness Day by baking cupcakes during their Cooking Club session, which were donated to Heather House Foodbank in Sittingbourne. As residents mixed, decorated and chatted, they reflected on the joy of giving and the difference that small acts of kindness can make.

From the first spoonfuls of batter to the final swirls of icing, our residents and teams poured their love into every cupcake. Cake4Kindness Day was a reminder that even the smallest gestures, like sharing a cake, can make the world a little brighter.

Huge thanks to everyone who took part!
