From the colours and flavours of Thailand in January, to the beautiful Islands of Greece last month; residents across our Nellsar Care Homes continued their virtual travel adventures in style!
The sun-filled scenery of Greece made it the perfect destination for our second mini cruise stop. During the week of 17-21 February we made the most of Greece’s warm hospitality, rich heritage and delicious cuisine, as our ladies and gents enjoyed a wonderful selection of themed activities and menus.
Some of our Homes explored the wonders of Ancient Greece through the arts – crafting vases and temples in clay, painting Greek letters and creating fantastic decorations, props and costumes of Greek gods and goddesses.
Our ladies and gents spent time learning interesting facts about this fascinating country and tested their knowledge with quizzes. They have enjoyed films and music too, a popular choice being Mamma Mia the movie which was set in Greece – ABBA tunes and dance moves have been in full swing!
Greece is renowned for its amazing food and our Chefs and teams worked wonders in serving authentic dishes to enliven everyone’s tastebuds! Moussaka, chicken souvlaki, spanakopita, spiced kebabs, pitta breads with tzatziki and hummus dips, olives, Greek salads and more, plus semolina halva and Greek sweets for dessert, to name a few!
It’s been fantastic to see so many of our ladies and gents getting involved and enjoying the delights of a different culture. The weather may have been a little murky here in the UK in February, but it was blue skies all the way on our mini cruise!
Next stop, South Africa!
