After the success of previous Nellsar cruises, we know just how much our residents enjoy virtual travel to sunny places! This year we’ve chosen three new countries to explore – Thailand, Greece and South Africa – each packed full of great culture, food, music and more.
Our first much-anticipated first stop was Thailand from 20-24 January, when our Homes jumped aboard ship and headed off to experience this fascinating destination, all from the comfort of their residents’ armchairs.
A country packed with tradition and colour, Thailand gave our Recreation and Well-Being Teams a great opportunity to involve their residents in themed arts and crafts, colourful decorations and dressing up – transforming their lounges and dining rooms with Thai flags, elephants, beautiful backdrops and even a life-sized tuk-tuk! There was a chance to reminisce too, as a number of residents had fond memories of holidaying in Thailand.
And of course, Thailand is famed for its mouth-watering cuisine. Our Catering Teams served up a variety of themed dishes to bring the country to life, including delicious Pad Thai, fragrant green curry, sticky rice and mango desserts.
Our Thai travels have certainly been a sensory feast for the eyes and tastebuds!
This month we’ll be travelling on to Greece with our virtual cruise from 17-21 February – our passports and sun hats will be at the ready!
