A huge thank you to everyone who came!
Nicola Masters (Home Manager) and the team at St Winifreds Care Home would like to thank all who attended their ‘Day at the Seaside’ recently. It was a very successful event and judging by the feedback received, a fun day was had by all.
The garden was decorated with bunting, lights and seaside backdrops, along with marquees for shade, photo cut-out boards for fun, and colourful montages using seaside photos and memorabilia. Floral garlands and dancing also added the the party vibe!
Residents and their friends and family enjoyed a raffle and traditional seaside games including ‘Hook a duck’. Staff served refreshing Pimms and punch, as well as fish & chips for lunch, followed by individual pots of ice-cream – just like the ones you get at the seaside!
Here’s a poem written by the St Winifreds team;
Happy smiling faces, sitting in the sun,
Families, friends and carer’s, having lots of fun.
Watching other people, bucket and spade in hand,
Trying to hook a duck and playing in the sand.
Eating fish ‘n’ chips and ice-cream, like we used too,
Memories flooding back, of all the things we used to do.
The happiness and the laughter, lots of drinks a-flowing,
As you look around and see the residents’ faces glowing.
Just for one day, we tried to re-create,
A fun day at the sea side, was it worth it?, Yes it was great!
