My Mother was a resident of the Princess Christian Care Centre for a period of just over two years, until her death. As a family, we were anxious about placing her in permanent Residential Care, having had some experience of Respite placements in previous years, which were not very successful. Handing over care of a much-loved family member is a difficult, emotional situation to come to terms with. However, from the moment I arrived with my Mother, I felt all my concerns lift. While my Mother was received by Nursing staff, I was greeted by Jayne, the receptionist, who immediately put me at ease. The admission examination was carried out in a highly dignified manner and always with explanation from the Nursing sister. Without exception, every member of staff carried out their tasks with the utmost respect for my Mother. They always “chatted” to her and there was always a cheerful atmosphere. Under the leadership of Mario Taherian, the staff at Princess Christian demonstrates every day how care can be delivered to the highest standard. I have had the privilege of witnessing how they care ‘ with respect, tenderness and affection ‘ and for that I will be forever grateful.
