He is smiling a lot now…

My dad has been at Abbotsleigh for 3 weeks now, so it’s still early days. That being said I have already seen improvements in his mental well-being. Dad’s verbal communication has diminished, over the last 12 months, along with his ability to feed himself. Since moving to Abbotsleigh he is calmer and much more interactive verbally, he also feeds himself a lot of the time. He is smiling a lot now. Dad is a “walker” so the bright and open environment is perfect for him. The staff are always on hand and while going about their duties will say “hello” and check that dad ,and other residents, are ok. Dad can be difficult at times due to his advanced dementia and the manager has stayed in touch with dad’s previous Care home manager, taking on board and implementing suggested ways to assist him to avoid frustration and conflict. I find this a positive and encouraging approach. Overall I am confident of dad’s safety and well-being in his new home.
