My mother moved to Abbotsleigh last December, having suffered repeated falls at home. From my first contact with the staff, I have been impressed with the level of kindness, care and professionalism exhibited. (I am a registered nurse). The staff worked quickly to get my mother assessed and transferred from the hospital. I was fortunate to have a choice of rooms and have always been involved in decisions regarding her care. I have been impressed by the number of activities and entertainers that have visited the home. Staff are always welcoming. When I have sat with my mother in the lounge, it has been lovely watching staff spending time interacting with the other residents. Obviously, things have been very different since the Covid pandemic. The home went into lockdown early, which was difficult for both residents and families, but I have been very impressed with the measures put in place to keep the residents safe. Thankfully, visiting (with social distancing) is now possible, and I have been delighted to find my mother is thriving. Obviously, she would rather be at home, but as this is not possible, I am confident she is somewhere where she is respected and well cared for.
