My husband was cared for at Abbotsleigh Care Home for the first time in January when I was admitted to hospital as an emergency. I had spoken to Alina, the Manager, some months earlier when looking for a suitable Care Home for him, but due to COVID, was unable to visit. Therefore, I had little idea about how the Home was run or indeed what the layout was. After spending a considerate length of time trying to find a place for him at such short notice Alina agreed to take my husband who suffers with advanced Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s with no mobility and whom she had never met into Abbotsleigh. We were all rather apprehensive as we were committing him to the unknown. We need not have worried as he was so well cared for by compassionate and caring staff who kept us fully informed of any concerns. He stayed for four weeks but I was already planning for him to be admitted for Respite Care at regular intervals and he has just returned from two weeks respite. Unfortunately, due to COVID, no indoor visits were permitted so I am looking forward to the day when I can visit and meet all the staff to thank them personally for all their good work and book his next stay.
