We’re delighted to share that two of our Nellsar Homes have been shortlisted for the National Association of Care Catering Awards (NACC). These prestigious awards celebrate teams and individuals that epitomise excellence, innovation, dedication and outstanding contributions within the care catering sector.
Lulworth House Residential Care Home has been shortlisted for Care Establishment of the Year, whilst the Catering Team at Princess Christian Care Home have been shortlisted for Catering Team of the Year. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and drive of our incredible team members.
Lulworth House
Lulworth House’s Awards submission highlighted the Home’s commitment to delivering exceptional care focused around the dietary and nutritional needs of residents. Over the past year, the Home has demonstrated a commitment to person-centred planning, outstanding service, and meticulous attention to the whole dining experience. The team fosters strong relationships with external professionals such as dieticians, working collaboratively with them to monitor and address the nutritional needs of those living in the Home. Additionally, they host both relative and resident meetings, where insights or concerns can be fed back to the Catering Team to incorporate into menu choices.

Princess Christian
For Princess Christian’s Award submission, the passion and creativity of the team was shown, highlighting how they utilise creative techniques and innovations whilst ensuring the nutritional needs, preferences, and clinical requirements of each of their residents are met. Demonstration cooking, show plates, and pictorial menus stimulate residents’ appetites through smell and memory, creating a dementia-friendly dining environment. They engage with residents during mealtimes, gathering feedback and adjusting menus to better suit their tastes and preferences to make dining a highlight of the day. The team as a whole is committed to continuous professional development, constantly gaining new knowledge to better cater to the diverse needs of those living in the Home.

Across six categories the finalists represent those working in or associated with care catering that deliver exceptional service every day. The overall winners will be announced at a gala awards dinner on Thursday 3 October 2024, which is part of the NACC Training & Development Forum held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.
