Upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations at Loose Valley Care Home

We are already excited about our upcoming celebration of Chinese New Year on Tuesday 5 February at Loose Valley Care Home. 2019 is the year of the pig.

It should be a brilliant day with Chinese-inspired dressing up for our residents, including red Mandarin hats and yellow Coolie hats. Our staff will also be getting involved by wearing traditional cheongsam dresses or red tops for the day.

We will be going all out on our decorations too – we’ll have an Asian dragon door banner, an impressive jointed dragon cutout, Chinese parasols, lanterns and flags – and two blow up pigs no less!

To really get us in the spirit of the day, we will have a special buffet on offer for those who want to experience a selection of Chinese cuisine. Yum!

One of our lovely lady volunteers, who comes in to run Pilates classes for us, has kindly offered to incorporate Chinese music into her class during the day and may also be able to organise some Chinese dancers to visit us at Loose Valley.

So get the date in your diary – it’s going to be a brilliant day of colour and fun!

Other dates for your diary…

  • Monday 21 JanuaryKelvin from Sounds Revisited will be showcasing a selection of music from the 1950s era onwards.
