Nursing Dementia Care

Nellsar have four Nursing Homes situated throughout Kent, and one in Surrey, that are able to provide specialist Nursing Dementia Care on a permanent, Day Care or Respite basis. Each of these Homes has registered Nurse on duty 24-hours per day.  

All staff in these Homes have received additional training in Dementia Care that enables them to provide person-centred care. This is delivered in a homely but Dementia orientated environment which includes secure gardens and additional recreational activities specific to the needs of people with Dementia.

Caring for residents with Dementia requires a dedicated and caring team of staff in order to meet the individuals’ needs in a truly person-centred way, that enables and promotes the individual’s quality of life, whatever stage of the Dementia pathway the person is. 

The Nursing and Care Staff are Dementia trained and have a unique empathy with their residents, which can be observed in their approaches when delivering the care on a daily basis.

The Care Team are supported by the Activities Co-Ordinators, who ensure that each resident has the opportunity and encouragement to participate in activities that are tailored to each person’s life experiences and past hobbies. 

Lastly and by no means last, the Catering Team will ensure that any special needs the residents may have in terms of dietary requirements are fully catered for. We provide a variety nutritious smoothies and other nutritious drinks on a daily basis, with a number of Homes also having their “Smoothie of the week” menu board.
