We felt supported and involved in all aspects of her care….

My mother was discharged from hospital into Abbotsleigh's care in February 2021, where she remained until she passed away in September. She received wonderful care, and as a family, we felt supported and involved in all aspects of her care. It's been a difficult year for everyone, but staff and management coped admirably with all the extra work surrounding family visits once the COVID restrictions were eased. We thank everyone at Abbotsleigh for looking after my mother, keeping her happy and safe, and for all the support they have given us.

It is obvious residents are receiving excellent care and attention….

During the Covid pandemic, as visitors, we have been unable to see our relatives in their rooms, only in an office fitted and full of safety, on a Zoom. However, it is obvious residents are receiving excellent care and attention, and we are very grateful. Thank you.

He always looks happy and is treated with dignity….

My dad has been a resident at Abbotsleigh Care Home for many years, I couldn't be more pleased with the care he receives, the staff are all so professional and pleasant. Despite the fact that he requires total care, his appearance is maintained to a high standard and he always looks happy and is treated with dignity. His nurse deserves a special mention for her caring nature and professionalism and the Manager always makes time to talk when I visit. I can't recommend the Home more highly.

Excellent on all counts….

Mum has been a resident at Abbotsleigh Care Home for the past three years until her passing in March 2021. We couldn't have wished for a more friendly and atmospheric place for her to spend her final years. All the staff from the manager downwards were all very friendly and very caring in every way. Can't praise everyone enough. Thank you. Excellent on all counts.

This Home is tops in all care….

This Home has been good for my wife and myself. Since 2019 when I was coming at any time, the lockdown is very hard and it's unpleasant to get by with communication. She is blind. This Home is tops in all care.

William P, husband of resident, April 2021, Abbotsleigh Care Home

Nothing is ever a problem….

My mum has only been at Abbotsleigh for one month. The first 14 days were difficult due to the COVID isolation requirement. However, since that point, she has become a much happier person. The staff give her plenty of attention and time and she enjoys their company as well as making new friends. All the staff appear to be conscientious and happy. Nothing is ever a problem.

So well cared for by compassionate and caring staff…

My husband was cared for at Abbotsleigh Care Home for the first time in January when I was admitted to hospital as an emergency. I had spoken to Alina, the Manager, some months earlier when looking for a suitable Care Home for him, but due to COVID, was unable to visit. Therefore, I had little idea about how the Home was run or indeed what the layout was. After spending a considerate length of time trying to find a place for him at such short notice Alina agreed to take my husband who suffers with advanced Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s with no mobility and whom she had never met into Abbotsleigh. We were all rather apprehensive as we were committing him to the unknown. We need not have worried as he was so well cared for by compassionate and caring staff who kept us fully informed of any concerns. He stayed for four weeks but I was already planning for him to be admitted for Respite Care at regular intervals and he has just returned from two weeks respite. Unfortunately, due to COVID, no indoor visits were permitted so I am looking forward to the day when I can visit and meet all the staff to thank them personally for all their good work and book his next stay.

Her care has been second to none….

My mother was moved to Abbotsleigh after being discharged from hospital, having had numerous falls at home and looking very frail and thin. I was a bit apprehensive about her going into a care home because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but I need not have worried because her care has been second to none and they have not had one case of Coronavirus. She has now been there for five months and she is very happy. She has put on weight and enjoys taking part in the numerous activities that they arrange for the residents and especially enjoys the singing. The staff are so lovely and caring and on her birthday we sat outside enjoying the sun and the staff came out with a cake and sang 'Happy Birthday' to her; it was such a lovely gesture and I believe they do the same for all the residents on their birthdays. My brother and I would like to thank you all for looking after her so well especially at this difficult time.

All the staff are really pleasant, it’s like talking to friends….

Mum has been here for a year now. At first, she was able to join in the activities, but due to age, illness and dementia, she is now bedridden. Due to Covid, we are unable to visit, but we can Skype and talk to her. Often she just looks confused, but her carer is so lovely, she makes sure her hair is done and helps her to wave or blow a kiss. She also reads mum her post and prints out emails they get from her children and grandchildren. These photos are put on her bedroom wall for mum to look at. Mum sleeps a lot now. It’s not ideal that we can’t visit, but this Home has been Covid free, and therefore, all the residents have been kept safe. All the staff are really pleasant, it’s like talking to friends and I know that mum is in a safe environment.

I have been very impressed with the measures put in place to keep the residents safe…

My mother moved to Abbotsleigh last December, having suffered repeated falls at home. From my first contact with the staff, I have been impressed with the level of kindness, care and professionalism exhibited. (I am a registered nurse). The staff worked quickly to get my mother assessed and transferred from the hospital. I was fortunate to have a choice of rooms and have always been involved in decisions regarding her care. I have been impressed by the number of activities and entertainers that have visited the home. Staff are always welcoming. When I have sat with my mother in the lounge, it has been lovely watching staff spending time interacting with the other residents. Obviously, things have been very different since the Covid pandemic. The home went into lockdown early, which was difficult for both residents and families, but I have been very impressed with the measures put in place to keep the residents safe. Thankfully, visiting (with social distancing) is now possible, and I have been delighted to find my mother is thriving. Obviously, she would rather be at home, but as this is not possible, I am confident she is somewhere where she is respected and well cared for.

Really caring and attentive….

My wife was only in the Care Home for a short while due to rapidly worsening health. During this difficult time, it was clear that all of the staff, from manageress down, were really caring and attentive and this was of great comfort to myself and our daughters. Due to COVID-19 visiting was very restricted, but the staff made sure my wife was made comfortable at all times and I cannot thank them enough.

Tony A, husband of resident, July, 2020, Abbotsleigh Care Home

I have been most impressed in how the home is managed….

My Mum has now been with you since 2016 and since the very first visit to your home, both my father and I have been most impressed in how the home is managed and how all the care worker staff all operate. My mother has front Lobel dementia which means she cannot walk, talk or communicate in any way, she can look at you and things you show her but nothing further is possible. I or my dad visit the home nearly every weekend and sometimes mums sister comes with us and we are always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. The home is always clean and smells as fresh as it can be and the food is cooked to a high standard with all my mum's nutritional needs catered for and blended for her to eat as she sometimes forgets to swallow. I would like to say personally that all personnel at this home from the top management to the care workers themselves work as a brilliant team and my mum could not be situated anywhere better than this home.

MB, son of resident, May 2020, Abbotsleigh Care Home

May I wish you all well in these challenging times…

To all the lovely staff at Abbotsleigh. May I wish you all well in these challenging times. You were wonderful with my dad who sadly died in January, so I wish you all the very best and assure you that your efforts do not go unnoticed and unappreciated. Best wishes to you all.

JM, April 2020, Abbotsleigh Care Home

I highly recommend this care home….

My grandad lived at this care home for the past four years or so. I highly recommend this care home - for the simple reason that the staff are very very caring, kind and together they create a loving home for the people who live there. Unfortunately, my grandad passed away at the end of last month, but I can honestly say that they really supported him and us until the very end. It wasn't an easy thing to see someone that you care about so deteriorated, but it was made easier by the love and support that he was provided with by the staff. We were always welcomed and treated like part of the Abbotsleigh family whenever we visited and whenever we left, we were left feeling content with the fact that Grandad was well cared for and looked after. Thank you so much for all you did for my grandad and the support you gave to us!

Natalie A, granddaughter of resident, February 2020, Abbotsleigh Care Home

Strong beliefs and a great structure….

I would like to thank all of your staff at Abbotsleigh for their courtesy and empathy regarding my Mum in a time of great stress. All of your staff, from the chef, carers and cleaners, management all showed, with strong beliefs and a great structure, Abbotsleigh is the final place to go in life's journey. All six of my brothers have said when it is their time, they hope to end up in Abbotsleigh. Fantastic.

Wayne M, son of resident, February 2020, Abbotsleigh Care Home

Staff were kind and sensitive to our family….

My husband was accepted to Abbotsleigh from A and E following a violent and angry episode at our home leading to hospital until a suitable care home could be found. The care centre staff were kind and sensitive to our family (myself and our two adult sons) making a worrying and upsetting time as pleasant and safe as possible. My husband has settled well and we are very happy with his care.
