Abbotsleigh Care Home Testimonials

Many heartfelt thanks for the excellent care given to my husband, who had complex health problems and dementia. All the staff from managers, nurses, carers and activity coordinators to reception, and domestic staff were excellent and cared for my husband in such a professional and kind manner. We were supported at all times through distressing moments and shown such compassion. Any changes in my husbands condition were addressed and his needs met. Sadly he passed away after four months at Abbotsleigh but it came to feel like home there, and much respect was shown at the time of his death. We would highly recommend Abbotsleigh as a wonderful care home.

I cannot extend a big enough thank you to Abbotsleigh Care Centre for all the work they put in for Christmas Day yesterday for us families. The staff there are second to none; kind, caring, giving up their Christmas days to selflessly ensure we had enough drinks and food and that the residents had companionship and were comfortable. Dad, bless him, could not eat any of the food but he had a liquified version which he had a little of. The staff even did individual present bags and a Christmas card for each resident. We are very fortunate that Dad is there and they help make things easier. Thank you so much Abbotsleigh.

Due to the overall management and care - both my parents are relative newcomers to Abbotsleigh Care Centre but both have settled in very well thanks to all the staff's kindness. On their 61st wedding anniversary, a lovely party was arranged and we all had a very pleasant tea party. So much thought had gone into it, it was fabulous! Both my parents really enjoyed it hugely.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the team, for the fantastic firework evening. All the residents were included, given hotdogs etc. There was a lovely bonfire and the chance to have sparklers and toasted marshmallows. My mum, sister and daughter were welcomed and we all joined dad. He enjoyed it, became a bit tired but that's just him. It was lovely to be part of such a fun night. Well done!

Mum has been living at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for three months now since dad could no longer cope with her dementia. The rural location means easy access for visitors.  The manager is keen to listen and take action to improve the environment and wellbeing of residents. Staff are polite, helpful and courteous, smart and efficient. Activities are organised for residents on a daily basis. We feel mum is being cared for at Abbotsleigh.

Since my mum was admitted to Abbotsleigh in September on a pathway initially, we have been so impressed with the communication, care and consideration with mums care. The people we have had contact with across the whole team has been great and they demonstrate such care and compassion that we did not hesitate to choose Abbotsleigh as a preferred residence for mum. The home manager and her deputy are simply wonderful.

My Father came to live at Abbotsleigh Care Centre in September. When looking around, we noticed the friendly atmosphere, and the manager took the time to find out about dad and show us around personally. There are 3 activities co-ordinators on my dad's floor, a great resource. There are no offensive smells at all, there is always a cleaner each day, keeping the home clean and fresh. All the staff are extremely polite, cheerful and kind. Dad seems truly happy at Abbotsleigh. It is always so hard to see a loved one needing to move away from their own home, but Abbotsleigh really is a 'home from home'. Dad says 'it's very nice here. I really like it ', which is such a weight off our minds, knowing that he is content and not worried. The staff go out of their way to make sure all the little details of dad's needs are met. They always inform us if anything new has happened re dad's care. I really cannot praise Abbotsleigh enough and would recommend it to anyone.

My father-in-law has been in this care home for the last 2 years. In the last year, the management has changed and so has the home. It has become a much happier place. There is consistency with the staff as before the change I was always seeing new faces as there was an awful lot of agency staff used but now no agency staff. This is far better as the staff have got to know my father in law well and what his needs are, which is far better for him. The home has taken on a more homely appearance as it has been updated. I have found all the staff including the management team very approachable and always treat my father with respect and kindness. If you are looking for a care home for a loved one then I don't think you could find one better than this one.

I am really happy with the care my Grandad receives. The staff are phenomenal and always check on my Grandad as he is now bed bound. My grandad doesn't talk to anyone and Abbotsleigh Care Centre think of ways to interact with him in hope to try to get him talking and remembering his family and friends. Whenever I go to visit my Grandad, the staff are very welcoming and always have a smile on their face. It makes me happy to know that my Grandad is being looked after properly. I really cannot fault the care they give him and would highly recommend this care home!

The staff and management are very kind and considerate and they are providing the very best care for my Mother in Law.

AT, son-in-law of resident, September 2018, Abbotsleigh Care Home.

When my mother went to hospital for a broken hip, they sent her to another home. That home was not very good so I can compare one home against another. Abbotsleigh is a very good place for my mother to be.

I have now been visiting my wife at Abootsleigh Care centre for over five and a half years. As I am there every day I see much more than most visitors. All the staff are efficient, professional, considerate and very sympathetic to the resident's needs. Many activities are arranged by specialist staff and various musicians provide great entertainment. The food is excellent and catering staff happy to discuss needs. cleaning is constantly carried out to a high standard. I am more than happy that my wife is in Abbotsleigh as I can relax knowing she is receiving excellent care and attention.

We are very happy with Abbotsleigh Care Centre and more so my mother seems happy. The centre is spotless and there is always someone around cleaning. The staff are all friendly and approachable. I have been offered a cup of tea on all my visits and nothing seems too much trouble for them. My mother enjoys sitting in the lounge and she also enjoys all the food.

AS, daughter of resident, August 2018, Abbotsleigh Care Home.

The Manager and the team are very attentive to residents, kind, smiling faces that greet you. The home is very clean and inviting. Whilst visiting my mother at dinner time I was asked if I would like to eat with my mother. 10/10 in all areas.

SL, son of resident, July 2018, Abbotsleigh Care Home.

My dad has been at Abbotsleigh for 3 weeks now, so it's still early days. That being said I have already seen improvements in his mental well-being. Dad's verbal communication has diminished, over the last 12 months, along with his ability to feed himself. Since moving to Abbotsleigh he is calmer and much more interactive verbally, he also feeds himself a lot of the time. He is smiling a lot now. Dad is a "walker" so the bright and open environment is perfect for him. The staff are always on hand and while going about their duties will say "hello" and check that dad ,and other residents, are ok. Dad can be difficult at times due to his advanced dementia and the manager has stayed in touch with dad's previous Care home manager, taking on board and implementing suggested ways to assist him to avoid frustration and conflict. I find this a positive and encouraging approach. Overall I am confident of dad's safety and well-being in his new home.
