Loose Valley Care Home is nestled in the Loose Valley, near Maidstone, Kent, with some spectacular views from the extensive grounds across the Valley and close links to public transport. Loose Valley retains some of the original building, and has been extended to offer 32 bedrooms – 22 with en-suite facilities, 2 with wet rooms and 8 without. The Care Home in Maidstone provides specialist 24-hour care for people with Nursing and Residential care needs and is staffed by dedicated and highly trained nurses and carers, who are supported by the Administrator, Activities Co-Ordinator, Housekeepers, Onsite Maintenance Person and the Catering Team.
Loose Valley Care Home residents are allowed to bring their own furniture with them when they move in, and their pets to keep them company. We also organise regular external entertainers and we take trips out with small groups of residents. Loose Valley provides a varied, healthy and plentiful menu that is very popular with residents – catering for special diets and soft food diets.
As well as regular GP visits to the Home, residents can benefit from a range of Professionals who regularly visit the Home, including: Alternative Therapist, Chiropodist, Dentist, Dietician, Hairdresser, Optician, Physiotherapist, Specialist Nurses and Speech therapist.
Nellsar is one of the first Care Home groups to employ a Nutritional Therapist and introduce individual consultations and Nutritional Champions across the Homes, putting the holistic and nutritional health of our residents first. A combination of nature and science, Nutritional Therapy “acknowledges the kitchen as the medicine cabinet” and is extremely important to the elderly, particularly those in Residential Care with Dementia or specific health conditions or illnesses. We also have our very own Well-Being Team dedicated to making a difference to the lives of all Nellsar residents through nutritional balance, nurturing touch, compassion and empathy. It is Nellsar’s mission to maintain our residents’ health and well-being. Ask us about the Nutritional Therapy and Well-Being Treatments available.
Interactive Me is a brand new online tool used to create bespoke memory boxes as a valuable person-centred care tool for our elderly residents or those with Dementia. An ideal gift for a relative – click here to watch the video.
As with all the care we offer, End of Life Care at Loose Valley Care Home is as individualised and person-centred as our residents and their families need. We have very good relations with the Heart of Kent Hospice as well as the local GPs and this combined with the training for our staff and the culture we work by, ensures that there is attention to detail in the way we offer support to all. Some residents have been with us for a long time, while others come to Loose Valley for just a short time when home and hospital are not appropriate environments for them any more.

Our late mother had lived at the home for over a year and in all that time she was well cared for, respected and treated with dignity. End of life care was amazing and supportive of our mum's needs and the carers looked after us as a family also. I would have no hesitation in recommending Loose Valley Care Centre to others.

My family and I were very satisfied with the care given to my sister in Loose Valley Care Centre. She had a very good relationship with the staff and I think they liked her in return. They did not hesitate to call the local Doctor when she needed it and she always received the care and reassurance she needed.
FC, sister of resident, September 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone.
This is an excellent home, it gives every confidence in its services. The staff seem very happy and there's a good 'feel' to the place. I recommend it without reservation.
JM, son of resident, August 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone.
Though the building is looking a little tired and dated, this should not put off anyone considering it for their parent. The staff care for my mother with compassion, understanding and love. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and considered everyone from the cleaner to the chef (for whom she had a soft spot!) her new friends. It eased our minds to know that she was so well looked after. Thank you, Loose Valley

My brother was a resident at Loose Valley Nursing Home for a few years and he received excellent care from all concerned and so did his family. I had no hesitation in recommending it to my friend's relations and she has been cared for with the same dedication for the past 4 years. The staff are very dedicated, friendly and they certainly have the residents needs first and foremost. I have always had a good relationship with the management and I hope this will continue with the new management team. I try to visit once a week.
JM, friend of resident, July 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone.
Staff all very friendly and helpful. Any queries all sorted almost immediately. Always say hello by name. Our first experience of a family member in a care facility, we have friends in homes and they are nowhere near as nice as Loose Valley. It's like a home, not an institution.
LH, daughter of resident, July 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone.
Extremely friendly caring home.
DR, resident, July 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone.
My sister has been at the Loose Valley Care Centre since Dec 2014. I have found the staff and management to be friendly, caring and capable. My sister has been able to go out when she chooses and has been provided with a small garden area of her own which she enjoys greatly. I have noticed many improvements to both the home and grounds. My sister has needed regular nursing care which was arranged. There are outings and activities. All in all, it is a very nice place to be.
JG, brother of resident, June 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone.
Comfortable, staff caring.
AF, resident, June 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone
My experience of Loose Valley is a good very friendly home. Some improvements could be made, décor being one and more staff being employed.
PM, wife of resident, June 2017, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone
On arrival of my fathers first day he was greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome as were his family. The staff took time to introduce themselves and explain the running of the home. During his time at the home he was encouraged to join in all the activities and events. My father was treated as an individual and his needs were met. In the last days of my fathers life he was shown kindness and dignity. They also showed care and understanding to his family at this sad time. I cannot praise them highly enough.
KW, daughter of resident, July 2016, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone
Dad has been very well cared for at Loose Valley. He was admitted as it was thought he was in the last weeks of life and nine months later he is still with us, all due to the excellent care he receives. Staff are lovely and very supportive to the family as well which is such a bonus when times are tough. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for care for their loved one. Nothing is too much trouble.
YT, daughter of resident, March 2016, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone

The quality of cleanliness and meals are above excellent and my mothers care and needs are met to the highest quality, would highly recommend Loose Valley Care Centre to relatives and friends needing care home for nearest and dearest, 5* and above!"

AN, relative of resident, October 2015, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone
"We had to move my mother in law from a residential home to a nursing home because of increased care needs. We didn't think we would find another home as good as her last one. Loose Valley Care Centre has exceeded our expectations. She has been cared for by all staff at the home with compassion, empathy and kindness. Nothing seems too much trouble for anyone. She was recently very poorly, she was cared for by sister in the most professional, compassionate and caring manor. I am, myself, a registered nurse so am able to measure good care when it's delivered."
WL, relative of resident, October 2015, Loose Valley Care Home in Kent, Maidstone
"They laid on a lovely birthday party for her 100th. My Mother has been in Loose Valley for the past 3 months, and we have been very pleased with the care she has received. They laid on a lovely birthday party for her 100th. She seems very contented there which is all we could ask for."
PE Family, March 2015, Loose Valley Care Home in Maidstone
"The Care she received was second to none. Having known very little about Care Homes before my Mother became a resident, I was a bit worried about the Care that she was to receive, but after only a few days my concerns had evaporated into thin air. The Care she received was second to none. The staff are absolutely brilliant in everything they do. Very professional and I would recommend the Home to anyone! Any problems you have are always sorted without fuss and always made to feel that nothing is a problem, from changing a bed mattress to arranging hospital appointments. My compliments to one and all who work there."
CH Family, January 2015, Loose Valley Care Home in Maidstone
"She has settled in completely and is very happy. I cannot recommend this Nursing Home highly enough, they have been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the careers they are always cheerful and happy to help. We celebrated my Nan’s 100th birthday on Saturday in the Home, and they were excellent – food laid on and a beautiful cake. Grandma has only been at the Home for a few weeks, but she has settled in completely and is very happy. Thank you very much for making this a happy transition."

A message from the Manager
Hello, my name is Paula Persaud and I’m the Manager of Loose Valley Care Home. We provide excellent person-centred Nursing care, with dignity and respect. We have 32 single rooms, varying in size and character – 22 with en-suite facilities, 2 with wet rooms and 8 without The Care Home is a converted former vicarage, which has been extended over the years that it has been run as a Care Home. Owing to the differing characteristics of the property, it delivers intrigue around every corner.
Our Administrative area is at the entrance to the Care Home, where you are welcomed at the Reception by our friendly staff. Leading off from the Reception area is the Goldsbrough Suite (so-named after its architect). There are 11 very generously sized rooms, with a large bathroom and shower-room furnished with the latest specialist equipment.
At the end of the Suite is a private Visitor’s room, dining space and elegant conservatory, draped with views of lush green lawn and nature at its best. Wildlife can be enjoyed in every direction from inside and outside of the Care Home, and it has a serenity that captivates everyone. You can’t help but stay and gaze.
Returning to the Reception, we then make our way around to the front of the original house, bypassing the heart of every Care Home, the kitchen. The aroma of the freshly home-cooked food is enough to provoke a hunger and I rarely see the dessert trolley return with anything left on it!
The main room of the old house is the main lounge of the Care Home. It has been recently refurbished to remain traditional and cosy, but fresh looking and stylish, with comfortable lounge chairs. This room has seen many a special event, with our varied Activities and celebrations taking place.
Nearby are several high ceiling bedrooms, most of which have en-suite. There is a splendid wooden staircase leading to the first floor is adorned by natural light beaming in through the impressive arched window with captivating views of the valley’s naturally outstanding beauty. If you are unable to manage the stairs, there is a good-sized passenger lift, which ascends you to the first floor.
The Care Home’s bedrooms are of varying size and again, most have en-suite and all have fantastic natural light and picturesque views. There is another, separate shower-room and bathroom with the same facilities as on the ground floor, and there are a few steps down to the extension at the back of the old house, for which a platform lift provides swift and secure transfer between the levels, enabling wheelchair access throughout the Care Home. Therein lies the quirkiness that everyone finds on their first viewing – just when you think there isn’t any more, there is!
Each room in the Care Home has a Nurse Call Bell and if you are unable to use the call bell system, we have other systems in place to ensure you are safe and supported with your needs. If you wish to make a telephone call we have portable phones or you can use your own mobile phone. There is Wi-Fi available in most parts of the Care Home in Maidstone.
As your own personal needs may change, these will be discussed with you and those closest to you, and with your consent, your plan of care will be adjusted accordingly to reflect this. The staff are very experienced in managing care needs of many health and social care issues and we liaise with a large network of other health care professionals. Family and friends are welcome to visit you in the Home at any time and we encourage open communication.
Loose Valley Care Home in Maidtsone provides a homely environment with the exceptionally high standards of professionalism and care. You are encouraged, if possible, to visit the Care Home and ask all the questions you like. You can also speak with one of the staff on the telephone, send us an email, or ask someone to visit on your behalf.
