The manager came across as being extremely sensitive...

I found Abbotsleigh to have a warm and inviting feel from the minute you enter the building, staff are kind, caring and friendly always greeting visitors with a friendly smile and acknowledgement. My mother was transferred from hospital in February, but was only at Abbotsleigh for a short time as she was on the End of Life path, so for me one of the most important things was the cosy ‘home from home’ feel of the bedrooms (not hospitalised or clinical) as all. I cannot speak highly enough about the professionalism of the manager and her team, I felt confident my mother was comfortable and receiving the best care in the best possible place. The manager came across as being extremely sensitive, taking time to explain to me step by step what would happen in Mum's final days and when I wasn’t at the home with Mum, I got regular phone calls throughout both day and night as to her condition and what stage she was at (which was a massive help). Thank you.

The staff are so caring and efficient....

Needed to move dad as wasn't happy where he had been the last six months. He was assessed straight away and was moved the week after. The staff are so caring and efficient and very understanding of dad's needs and also mine and my sister's.

Your staff are amazingly attentive and cheerful...

Although my father has only been here a short while, the difference in him is very noticeable. He has more colour in his face and is really content. Your staff are amazingly attentive and cheerful, they are a credit to you. Thank you for all your dedication to the residents.

Excellent staff. Very caring. Very efficient. Look after all of Mum's needs wonderfully. Anticipate all care requirements, proactive in solving any health problems and keeping the family informed. All information required is readily available. All staff very good at welcoming and introducing themselves. Great food. Haven't seen Mum at so well for years. Mum feels secure and very content.

Good quality food and drink...

Mum has been in Lukestone since the start of December last year, and is now starting to settle in, has made a group of friends and takes part in activities provided. She is safe, warm and I know she has her medication regularly and good quality food and drink.

I just wanted to thank those at Meyer House for taking such good care of our Dad...

My Dad moved into Meyer House in March 2017 after a serious illness and stay in hospital where we were told he probably wouldn't survive. I'm a Care Home Manager myself so naturally my Mum asked me to help find a Nursing Home. My Dad had 2 bad experiences of respite care in other homes, so Mum was quit worried about him going somewhere permanently. I found Meyer House on this website and made an appointment to visit. My first impression of the home was staff very friendly and engaging when we walked through the door, it was a little as the Manager put it "shabby chic" but had a very homely feel. Sadly, my Dad passed away 2 weeks ago, not bad considering the hospital told us he wouldn't survive. My Mum visited him most days and has been very happy with the care and attention the staff and management have provided, she has such praise for the carers. I know the difficulties faced by care homes these days, I just wanted to thank those at Meyer House for taking such good care of our Dad.

Nothing was ever too much trouble....

I had never been in this situation where a family member was in a care home. I couldn't believe how amazing and caring all your staff were, nothing was ever too much trouble. My grandad built lovely relationships with the staff. This was a nice thing to know when we weren't able to visit. I can't thank all the staff, who looked after me grandad, enough and I will always be so grateful.

Silverpoint Court has been first class….

The quality of care given to my Mother since she has been resident at Silverpoint Court has been first class. I have, in the course of my work, visited many care homes and very few appear to show the same standards exhibited.

Nothing is too much trouble...

Staff are very caring, friendly and understanding. Nothing is too much trouble. Always a welcome for visitors and open to discuss their resident's needs. So lovely to see our friend laughing.

Sympathetic and dignified manner...

I am very happy with the care my mother is receiving. The staff seem to understand her needs and care for her in a sympathetic and dignified manner.

I have been impressed with the wonderful level of care and attention...

My Dad is 89, with moderate but increasing dementia, and just about managing to remain in his own home with his wife, also in her late 80s. Dad has spent two separate weeks recently at Old Downs, to give his wife a short respite from his care needs. I have visited Dad daily, at various times of the day. On each occasion, I have been impressed with the wonderful level of care and attention he has received from all the staff. Every person has treated Dad with utmost respect and compassion, holding his hand, speaking gently with him and listening to him. This might be the lady with the tea trolley, any of the care/activities staff, whether in the lounges, the dining room, or at Reception. Dad has a sense of humour & he has clearly enjoyed the relaxed chit-chat with all the staff. Everybody knew Dad's name, and he was welcomed back on his repeat visit like a member of the family. The staff are kind and gentle with Dad, giving him choices and suggestions to fill his time. I am very grateful.

They treat all the residents with dignity, respect and genuine affection...

The staff at Woodstock are all very welcoming and friendly. They treat all the residents with dignity, respect and genuine affection. My mum settled in on day one – something I would never have believed unless I had seen it. Mum calls it 'her home' as if she's always been there. It's amazing how many activity days there are, with families and friends always made welcome. For the very first time in years, I have been able to relax when I'm not with mum knowing that she's getting the best possible care available.
