Care Home in Bromley
Dementia & Nursing Care
Bromley Park Care Home is situated on the outer edges of Bromley, with extensive public transport links. Bromley Park provides Nursing Care for elderly people with a diagnosis of Dementia, within a converted Georgian house, which has been extensively refurbished in 2014 to provide a high quality, homely environment. The Care Home in Bromley is staffed by a team of dedicated and highly skilled nurses and carers, who are supported by the Administrator, Activities Co-Ordinators, Housekeepers and the Catering Team.
Bromley Park Care Home residents are allowed to bring their own furniture with them when they move in, and we encourage everyone to make their room their own, with familiar personal items from home. The Home features specialist lifting and bathing equipment, lift access to all floors and wheelchair access throughout. We have a busy Activities timetable for those wishing to take part. We also organise regular external entertainers and we often take trips out in our Mini Bus with small groups of residents. Bromley Park provides a varied, healthy and plentiful menu that is very popular with residents – catering for special diets and soft food diets.
As well as regular GP visits to the Home, residents can benefit from a range of Professionals who regularly visit the Home, including: Chiropodist, Dentist, Dietician, Hairdresser, Optician, Physiotherapist, Specialist Nurses and Speech therapist.
Nellsar is one of the first Care Home groups to employ a Nutritional Therapist and introduce individual consultations and Nutritional Champions across the Homes, putting the holistic and nutritional health of our residents first. A combination of nature and science, Nutritional Therapy “acknowledges the kitchen as the medicine cabinet” and is extremely important to the elderly, particularly those in Residential Care with Dementia or specific health conditions or illnesses. Needed to move dad as wasn’t happy where he had been the last six months. He was assessed straight away and was moved the week after.

My mother has been very well looked after since coming to the home almost two years ago. She needs help with all aspects of personal care and is always clean, well dressed with brushed hair and teeth. Her clothes are chosen for her and they always match and look smart. The staff know her personal tastes well, are kind, considerate, polite and smiling. Recently her room was decorated and I was delighted to be asked what my mother’s choice of colours for paint and fabrics would be – another example of the respect and regard the staff have for the residents. I am kept well informed of any matters relating to my mother’s care and am called promptly if any issue arises. I have attended the friends of relatives meetings, which are friendly, open and informative and am impressed with the new newsletter that was recently issued. The home is welcoming, clean and bright and the staff just lovely.

We came today to visit a very special lady who means so much to us and our family. The staff at this care home are so very polite, helpful and caring. It’s so nice when unfortunately there are some homes that the care and attention are far from adequate. However, this is a home that cares for you from start till the end and makes us feel that places like this restore our faith and trust in society. Thank you for everything you’ve all done for our dear friend who is a very special lady.

I am happy with the care currently being given to my mother. Staff take a genuine interest in her happiness and well being.

My father has been in the home for some years and I am pleased to say that over the past few years the home has become much improved by recruiting a better calibre of staff and management, which in turn has impacted on my father’s wellbeing in a positive way. The manager has done an outstanding job of taking over management temporarily. She is always attentive to any issues I have and deals with them timeously. I am mostly very pleased with the way my dad is cared for at Bromley Park, and she is presently dealing with some issues of concern I have raised lately. My father has a few carers who he likes to chat and banter with, which is really nice to know. Over the past months, the home has undergone some refurbishment and it feels a lot more homely and practical.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful. A good caring atmosphere. Very responsive to requests. All the staff are very kind to elderly confused patients.

The resident seems happy and well cared for. There is always an activity taking place when I visit and residents are encouraged to join in. The home is clean and in good decorative order. There is a large garden and the residents are encouraged to use it in the good weather. It could do with some tidying, but it isn’t dangerous and is pleasant to be in.

Mum has Lewy bodies dementia, we cared for her at home for many years, in the end, it was becoming just too much. I have found the staff at Bromley Park kind and caring, the lunches are always very nice with fresh vegetables and they have a range of activities which go on, some of which mum takes part in.
They have a lovely garden and they make full use of it in the summer. The management has always reacted to any concerns I have had (which happens because that is what life and dementia is like) promptly and professionally. The manager has an open door policy and always makes time to talk. They have excellent nurses who go the extra mile and work hard to support the residents and their needs. There is no perfect residential home (if mum knew where she was, she would prefer to be in her own little annexe), but the staff at Bromley Park try their best to make it homely and cater to each resident’s needs. We feel very lucky to have found them.

My friend needed to stay in your care home for just two nights, in order to attend a family funeral some 200 miles from where she lives. Her care needs were complex, not helped by her almost total blindness. Being in a strange environment, surrounded by unfamiliar staff and residents, she was obviously felt very nervous and in a very vulnerable position. Your staff coped admirably. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and kind. The decor was light and airy, and most importantly very clean. The service you provided to me friend was very much appreciated.

My husband was a resident for nearly 2 years. I loved the building and gardens and the space and freedom of the residents. I spent many hours there including frequent celebrations, entertainments and activities. There was always a lovely upbeat atmosphere. Residents were treated with the utmost consideration and respect and carers were attentive, kind and very caring. Medical help was always available, diet adapted to tastes and needs. Staff were keen to help relatives, make them feel welcome, allay their concerns and support them in many ways. My husband was very well cared for. He always looked smart with freshly laundered clothes and his favourite things to hand. He responded when staff joked with him and was very relaxed and seemed happy within the limits imposed by his advanced dementia. Our family feels very lucky that my husband had a place in Bromley Park, it was the best possible outcome in the circumstances.

The staff at Bromley Park Nursing home are truly wonderful. During my Fathers time there they made sure there was always a happy lively atmosphere in the home. You could drop in at any time and there was always music playing and activities going on. Every attempt was made to interact with the residents, encouraging them to dance and sing along. I could always tell which of the carers were my Dads favourites as his face would light up when they came in. He was often more interested in them than he was in me when I visited. Families were encouraged to come to events and get involved which was always good fun. As his illness got progressively worse it was a huge comfort to know that he was receiving the best possible care. The job they do is extremely difficult and I am so grateful to all the staff for all the care and love that they gave him.

How blown away I was to visit an old resident of mine today 3.2.2016, no one knew I was going a surprise for my lady. Pulling up looking around the car park 1st impressions count I thought “this looks very nice clean” etc. I went round the back to get in as advised on the main door, another visitor let me in. I followed this lady, I could hear music playing and laughter all over the building. As I walked to the large lounge I saw my friend. She was laughing chatting away to another person, she saw me and straight away I could see in her eyes how contented she was, she had put on weight I am pleased to say, dressed nicely her nails painted which was strange to see as I have known this lady for 14 years never known her to have paint on her nails. She agreed how nice they looked. All the stories you hear or see on t.v / radio shocking most of them. This home was fabulous, I was invited to stay for lunch. Hats of to the chef, very nice, I am sure my hips wont agree though, we sat had lunch, pudding and a cup of tea. The staff have their hands full with some of the residents but so helpful speaking so nice to the residents. I met the manager again professional kind understanding, they couldn’t do enough for you. I came away so happy and settled what a lovely experience the best care home I have have visited in years by far. Its a shame the t.v and papers don’t go and see these places, how lucky we are to have this care home for our local dementia patients. Keep up the good work people, what a lovely team you are. p.s I have been in the care work from working in emi. to housing. care homes . nursing homes. carer as well. Now in the private sector. Believe me I have seen some bad run places and some very nice care homes, but this place was special, no horrid hidden smells, nothing false, the atmosphere was beautiful.

My mother in law was a resident for just over 18 months. In that time, she was treated with total dignity and respect, encouraged to join in activities, helped and cared for in every way possible. I cannot fault the care and love given to her. She died after 3 weeks just before New Year, and during that time, the support and care given to her and to us was impeccable. Thank you.

“Bromley park is a very comfortable care home, it is not clinical looking in anyway and has been adjusted to make all service users feel at home.all the staff are very friendly and approachable. The management team are excellent, and always have time to discuss any concerns or issues that you may have. The activity staff are always lively and arrange fun and social activities throughout the week. I feel maybe the day time staff could be more interactive at times with the residents, but overall they are always willing to assist if you need anything.”
