I just wanted to thank those at Meyer House for taking such good care of our Dad…
My Dad moved into Meyer House in March 2017 after a serious illness and stay in hospital where we were told he probably wouldn’t survive.

My brother has been at Meyer House for 6 months and he has loved every minute of living here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. He looks so much better in his appearance and so much happier in himself than he has been for a few years, this is due to the care and meals he is eating.

When my mother had to go into a nursing home we, as a family, were very concerned as to which home to choose. We had heard very good reports on Meyer House so we made an appointment to visit. We were impressed from the moment they opened the door. The staff are all very kind, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Our mother never wanted to move from her house, let alone go into a nursing home, but she is really happy at Meyer House and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Mum is settled and well attended. She is not too communicative but seems to have a good relationship with the team. Over the last 18 months, she has steadily withdrawn into herself but was formerly very happy.

I have found all the staff to be very caring to my mother. They treat her with dignity and are supportive. Rooms are clean and the food and drink are very good. Facilities are good and clean. There are activities on a regular basis.

Very well run home. Anything you ask is dealt with.

It was such a difficult time in our lives and a massive decision to select the right care home for our father. The moment we walked into Meyer House it had a very welcoming feel about it. Dad has settled in really well and this is down to the time and dedication of all staff involved.

I visit a resident that’s not related. My mother used to be there until she passed away. Got to know several of the residents and enjoyed going there. The staff are very friendly so now I visit a gentleman whom I got to know when my mother was in there as he doesn’t have any visitors I go there once a week so see him.

“My Mum was cared for in Meyer House, Erith from March 2015 until she sadly passed away in September 2015. I found the home to be clean and there were plenty of activities for the residents should they wish to participate. There was always a calming atmosphere within the home and there was a variance of ages within the staff members which the residents seem to like. A few of the staff who work there understand the predicament that family members find themselves in when having to choose to place an elderly family member into care as they have been there themselves. Some of them chose to work at Meyer House having visited their family member who was already a resident. On the night my mum passed away I was grateful for the care and support that was shown to me and thankful that I had the carers to turn to for support – to be honest I don’t think I could have been there without them. They know who they are.”
PW, relative of resident, October 2015, Meyer House Care Home in Kent, Erith
“I visit many many care home in my working life, I have never come across such happy, dedicated and caring staff as I have here. Today’s visit we were greeted by red, white and blue buntings and lots of additional decorations which the residents seem to enjoy. There was entertainment of all kinds and not a sad face to be seen. They had even gone to the effort to re-create a ‘bomb shelter’ in the garden, it’s amazing and the staff are unbelievable. I would highly recommend Meyer House for any length of stay to friends, family and work colleagues alike. Well done to the staff. They are all an absolute credit.”

“I just wanted to say how fantastic the staff all are here at the care home. They look after each resident as if it was there own family member. Nothing is ever too much for them. They are attentive and very patient. I highly recommend this care home to both friends and family.”

“I am very happy with Meyer House. My Mother has been in Meyer House for nearly three years now and has always been treated with respect and dignity. There have been some alterations at the Home recently and there are some more to be carried out next year. I believe they will improve the entrance to the Home and the tea making area, which will make it an awful lot cleaner and tidier. I am very happy with Meyer House and know that my mother is in a secure, safe and caring home.”
SS Family, December 2014, Meyer House Care Home Erith, Kent
“Highly satisfied with the standards of care. Meyer House is an extremely friendly environment and always appears to be well run by staff who have a genuine interest in the Care of the residents. Due to her condition, my Mum has had some difficult times since moving into Meyer House, but the staff and Nurses have been able to help her through these extremely well. Most importantly, she remains in a safe environment where she is not at risk of injury and where her health is always monitored and well managed. I have always been highly satisfied with the standards of care and the overall management at Meyer House.”

AF Family, November 2014, Meyer House Care Home Erith, Kent
“I cannot thank Gill and her staff enough. The staff are caring and compassionate. My Aunt has been a resident at Meyer House for one year and during that time she has had some difficulties with her health. The staff have been amazingly supportive throughout the year. The Manager Gill and her staff keep us informed as soon as any concerns arise. Most importantly the staff are very approachable and any worries or concerns are quickly dealt with. I love the idea of the ‘resident of the day’ as this makes the person feel extra special and gives their family an opportunity to discuss matters arising. Meyer House has a friendly, homely feeling about it. I cannot thank Gill and her staff enough for the Care that they have shown to my Aunt.”

“Warm & Safe Care. Mum is well looked after but more importantly she feels at home. Staff are kind, considerate and are very much family to the residents. Visiting is easy and unrestrictive and, apart from her room, there are areas we can meet, talk or eat with Mum if we wish.”

A message from the Manager
Hello, my name is Gillian Redsell and I am the Manager of Meyer House Care Home in Kent. The Care Home opened in December 2006 and I have been the Manager since the very beginning. In that time, we’ve seen many changes to both the inside and outside of the Home – all designed to continually improve upon the living and working environment for our residents and staff. Meyer House is situated in a residential area of Erith, and the neighbouring houses are very supportive of the Care Home and the work we do here.
Meyer House is a Nursing and Residential Care Home for the older person who needs support and care to ensure that they lead a fulfilled, safe and enriched life. The Care Home is small, looking after 28 residents, which means it feels “homely” with residents, relatives and staff welcoming each other as family. The residents’ bedrooms are spread over two floors and a lift is always available.
The kitchen is well-equipped and the Chefs provide good, wholesome, varied home-cooked foods for everyone, with choices from the daily menu. Although we offer a daily set menu for lunch, the main meal of the day, residents are encouraged to request their own choice if they would prefer an alternative. Lunch is served by our in-house hospitality team who serve you at your table, with a choice of drinks to enjoy, and a variety of delicious desserts to choose from. Our tea trolley also goes round three times a day with a variety of drinks and snacks for the residents to choose from.
All of our rooms have lots of natural light into them and have en-suites with showers. Two separate bathrooms are also available for residents who prefer a bath. We encourage residents to bring personal belongings with them and make their room their own, ensuring health and safety at all times. The Care Home also has a few premier rooms with a little more floor space, and these are priced accordingly. There are Nurse Call Systems throughout the Care Home, and in every room, to ensure that residents are safe and supported at all times.
Our spacious and light dining room is lovely for enjoying meals with the company of others. The open lounge area, with comfortable armchairs and open floor space, also has a TV room and conservatory adjoining it. The conservatory overlooks a patio area with raised flowerbeds and a seating area, to be enjoyed in the warmer weather. There is another open seating area to the front of the Home which is used by the residents to enjoy the weather and some outside activities.
As a Nursing Home, there is a Nurse is on duty at all times and the staffing team are experienced and passionate about their commitment to the residents’ needs. Being located in a residential area, Meyer House is close to local transport links, making it very convenient for our residents’ friends and families when they come to visit.
