Nothing was ever too much trouble…
I had never been in this situation where a family member was in a care home. I couldn’t believe how amazing and caring all your staff were, nothing was ever too much trouble.

Both my parents have spent the end of their lives at Princess Christian. They were cared for with respect, dignity, compassion and affection. The nursing staff are excellent and communicated regularly with us so we were always informed. The whole staff, carers, cleaners, laundry, reception, activity staff, physio etc are like a family rather than paid staff just ‘doing a job’.
JW, daughter of residents, November 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey.
My father was admitted in October 2016. He received palliative care only, with a deteriorating neurological condition. The staff were caring and considerate, showing respect for my father. They also made sure we were ‘fed and watered’! We could visit at any time and stay as long as we wished. Any concerns were dealt with promptly.
JA, daughter of resident, August 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey.
The staff at this home were exceptional. My father built a real rapport with same as he was there fairly long term. They always had a smile, very local to us – his condition was complex, nothing was too much trouble! Wonderful care.
CD, daughter of resident, August 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey.
My husband was always treated with the utmost respect during his stay. The staff were attentive to his needs at all times. He felt safe and secure. Great consideration was always given to his complex needs, both mental and physical. Everything was done to maintain his dignity in all circumstances.

JG, relative of resident, July 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey.
My husband was treated extremely well, cannot praise staff enough.
EE, wife of resident, July 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey.
My mother suffered Alzheimer’s and spent the last 4 months of her life at Princess Christian. During that time all the staff were caring, thoughtful and considerate. They understand the needs of their tenants and how this terrible illness affects the friends and relatives of the sufferer. Every visit was met by a welcome from every member of staff, it did not matter if they were the admin, nurses, carers or cleaners. The smile and welcome was there. The offer of a drink or something to eat was also always on offer. We were kept informed of my mother’s health by regular telephone updates as well as face to face chats when we visited. When the end was near the staff were there 24/7 with my mother so she was never alone. I cannot thank them all enough for helping us through a very difficult time.

Mother moved to Princess Christian Care Centre when she needed nursing care and could no longer stay at the residential home. The staff were all very attentive and worked hard to ensure she felt at home. They paid great attention to mothers needs and made sure they cared for her in a way she wanted. She had a lost the ability to speak but they paid attention to her body language and were amazing.
AM, daughter of resident, May 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My family was overwhelmed by the professionalism compassion and care for us all, while our father was here. Facilities were great, location is tranquil yet accessible and staff went above and beyond on every occasion. I don’t know what the secret is, but this is what every care home should aspire to be.
VC, daughter of resident, April 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My mother died peacefully on 10th December 2016 in the loving care of Princess Christian Care Centre staff. She had been at the home for over four years and obviously gradually declined during the time. The staff were amazing. Kind, supportive and professional. I am so glad she spent her final days at Princess Christian Care Centre.
KS, son of resident, March 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My mother was at Princess Christian Care Centre Bisley for 4 years and was extremely well looked after. The staff couldn’t do enough for her, they all spoke to her when they passed which made her feel like she had a large family around her. I hope when I get too frail to look after myself there will be places like Princess Christian Care Centre around.
ES, daughter of resident, March 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My first visit to Princess Christian was warm and welcoming. The whole accommodation was clean. The carers are and were always just that, caring. It was a home from home and whenever I visited my mother, it was as though I was visiting her at home. My mum did have a couple of low days but a quick chat with the staff and my next visit her mood was lifted.
TC, daughter of resident, February 2017, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
I am extremely impressed with the care and help shown by the staff in Bisley Ward. They go beyond the call of duty in caring for the residents and I cannot praise them enough. They are the very best.

What a lovely clean care centre. All the staff we met and dealt with were professional and helpful. Mum was always clean, hydrated and fed. She was greeted by name and spoken to in a caring manner

My mother was in the Princess Christian Care Centre for three weeks. You could not have had better attention all the carers were excellent and could not have done any more for you. Everyone was jolly and always had a smile on their face.
RC, son of resident, August 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My wife was terminally ill with a brain tumour. We approached the Princess Christian Care Centre while my wife was a patient at hospital. From our first telephone call to the care home we were treated with respect and given all the information needed to make a decision. The courtesy of the staff was excellent and the manager was kind, considerate, helpful and took on the organising of the transit and care of my wife. Despite only being in their care for 8 days, my wife was most comfortable, peaceful and truly well cared for. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
JF, husband of resident, July 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My mother enjoyed her last year at the home and it was a pleasure to visit her.
RD, son of resident, June 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
The care given to my mum who was suffering with dementia was fantastic. They understood all the problems that come with the illness. When my mum suffered a bleed on the brain 6 months after entertaining the home, the staff at Princess Christian treated her with respect and dignity. She was always clean, her hair brushed and in clean clothes. Mum was unable to do anything for herself and could not move or communicate. The staff were in contact with me on a regular basis. I couldn’t ask for more.
VAL, daughter of resident, June 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
Princess Christian provided amazing care to my father during his short stay. Nothing was too much for the staff. As he was bed bound, it was lovely to see them taking the time to spend with him.
SD, daughter of resident, May 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My mother was a resident here for nearly 4 years. In all that time she was given wonderful care and shown great dignity at all times. As a relative I was always made to feel welcome and always had no reluctance to approach any member of staff if there were any concerns with my mother. It is a very peaceful setting, and the building although Victorian in age, is modern throughout. I would recommend this care home to anyone.
CH, daughter of resident, May 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My husband was in this home for 19 months the treatment he received was wonderful. The staff were always on hand to care for his needs. They were all very attentive. Even the cleaners would stop and chat to him. I cannot fault the home at all.
MA, wife of resident, April 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My relative had to be moved into care quickly due to a fall and we were able to get a room for her immediately on a Sunday. Her care was excellent nothing was too much trouble. The nurses were always watching our for any change in her condition when she was referred to the GP or the local hospital. Drinks and meals were serves promptly and the menus has a range of choices. Sometimes the portion sizes were too large but this changed in due course. There are a number of activities for the residents to take part in including outings in the mini bus to local nurseries for coffee, flower arranging, crafts etc. This is an excellent care home with good care and dignity shown to all residents.
DS, relative of resident, March 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
I have been treated with great care and support by all the staff in the Bisley Unit. I cannot thank them enough for their help since I took up residence in the home in December 2015.
CL, resident, March 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My husband was there for four years. He passed away Dec 31st 2015. Through no fault of the home. I could not thank them enough and the care he was given by all and everyone concerned.
SH, wife of resident, January 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
My father has been a resident for over a year. When admitted, he was in such poor health that I did not expect to still have him with us for very much longer. I am convinced that my father would have passed away many months ago if it were not for the excellent nursing and general care he receives at Princess Christian. I cannot recommend this care centre highly enough. All the staff from the cleaners, carers, nurses and management are always helpful and friendly. They treat my father with the utmost respect and dignity. My mother was understandably concerned when my father was first admitted to a nursing home, but now she is completely at ease knowing that my father is well looked after and in safe hands.
TH, son of resident, January 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
All staff were very kind, informative and supportive. Regularly made contact by phone and meetings without being prompted to do so.
NW, relative of resident, January 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
“Mum was in Princess Christian for 3 weeks after a long stay in hospital before passing away. I could not have asked for a more supportive, compassionate and well run home for mum to end her days in. The staff looked after mum with such love that we felt she was almost a family member. Even down to looking after us and feeding us when we stayed over night for mums final days.”
CE, relative of resident, January 2016, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
“The manager and all the team are absolute angels and that’s the only way to describe him and his team. The ethos of the home putting their clients first and also looking after the family involved with loved ones at life’s end is unbelievable, the love and care they took with my mum and ourselves. The managers words to me “Everyone needs everyone else” will remain with me forever.”
SH, relative of resident, December 2015, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
“I was very impressed by the professionalism, sensitivity and pro-active helpfulness of all the staff with them I had dealing. The nurses were particularly sympathetic and caring. I throughout was thoroughly informed at every stage of my mothers illness.”
CH, relative of resident, November 2015, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
“The care and kindness shown by Princess Christian staff was first class. My Mother was a resident in Princess Christian Care Home for the last month of her life, following discharge from hospital. It was unfortunate that Nursing Care in another local Home where she was resident for 2.5 years deteriorated to the point where another Home had to be sought. However, the care and kindness shown by Princess Christian staff was first class and my Mother passed away peacefully in no pain, in a warm, comfortable environment which is all we can ask.”
MB Family, February 2015, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
“I cannot praise the Nurses and carers enough for their kindness and constant support. My Mother was a resident at Princess Christian Care Centre for just over three years and has recently died. I cannot praise the Nurses and carers enough for their kindness and constant support. If Mum needed the Doctor, the Nurses would always call me to tell me the outcome of his visit and keep Mum monitored. The staff always had a smile for everyone and I never once saw any of them looking cross or flustered despite being constantly busy. All I can say is one very big THANK YOU to everyone there including Mario, the Manager – Mum thought he was wonderful – so do I and I am eternally grateful.”
MK Family, January 2015, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
“She was withdrawn…they changed all of that. My Mother has been a resident Princess Christian Care Home for nearly 4 years. When she went in she hardly spoke, was withdrawn and did not participate in any activities. They changed all of that, although now her Dementia has taken it away again.”
GW Family, January 2015, Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey
A message from the Manager
Hi, I’m Mario Taherian and I’m the Registered Manager of Princess Christian Care Home in Surrey. Working as a Home Manager for several years I can understand that it can be very difficult choosing the right Care Home for your loved one. If you are looking for a Care Home place in our area, I would recommend you visit us at Princess Christian Care Home before making a decision. You will get to know the quality of our team, our services and see the range of daily activities we provide for our residents, which are tailored to their interests and hobbies. Our goal is to provide a ‘happy home’ for all of our residents, which means making sure everyone feels as independent as possible in a warm, homely environment. At Princess Christian, we recognise each person as an individual with their own unique set of experiences and values.
Princess Christian Care Home is one of the largest and most popular of its kind in Surrey – caring for the elderly and for people with a diagnosis of Dementia. Situated in the beautiful village of Bisley, near Woking, the Care Home is well known for its achievements and pioneering commitment to Dementia Care. We have achieved Investors in People (Gold) and we are accredited by the Gold Standards Framework – an acknowledgement of the expertise of our superior End of Life Care services.
Princess Christian is a 93-bedded Nursing and Residential Home and it has a history of almost 100 years as a Care Home – formerly as a Home for elderly war veterans. This home was rebuilt in 2009 to look identical from the outside, but to modern building specifications. The interiors have been transformed into purpose-built facilities for residents with Dementia or related illnesses. Each of our bedrooms has en-suite facilities, optional flat screen TVs and telephone points. There are several lounge areas, two large conservatories, two dining rooms and one large fully functioning restaurant style dining area within the building. We also have an onsite Hair Salon, a Cinema Room, a Sensory Room, comprehensive personal care facilities and landscaped secure grounds.
For the convenience of managing a large home, we have three independently managed units – each of which is led by a Senior or Lead Nurse. Princess Christian always has a minimum of three qualified Registered Nurses on duty 24-hours a day, supported by three unit managers, one deputy manager and myself. All our staff members are competent in delivering the highest quality care from a person-centred approach, according to each person’s likes and preferences. We also have the service of a chartered physiotherapist available to consult regarding your loved one’s mobility or functional issues.
I have to say that I am currently leading the most amazing team of staff at Princess Christian. They truly know about connecting to people. They want to enrich the lives of our residents by reminding the rest of the community that Care Homes are filled with unique, intelligent and charming people, and run by staff who really value their job. They all are keen in upholding our values – caring, compassion, communication, competence, commitment and courage.
We love to involve family and friends and listen to their views on their loved ones’ care and on the day-to-day running of the Home. This is the reason why we have “Friends of Princess Christian” (FOPC), which is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation designed to bring relatives, residents and staff at Princess Christian Care Home together. We meet regularly and talk about how to make positive changes in the Home, continually contributing towards enriching the lives of its residents. FOPC meets once a month to discuss anything related to the Care Home or its services. This also provides an opportunity for us to build a larger community around our residents so that they don’t feel segregated from the rest of the world.
I can’t wait to meet you and show you how proud our residents feel when they actually sit for these meetings and have their say on the day-to-day running of the Home. We also organise regular social events, fundraising events to support charities and educational sessions etc. to which residents, their friends and family are welcome at any time.
In our restaurant, you will be able book in advance to dine together with your loved one as a family, or on special occasions, and you will be treated with delicious homemade food.
We are keen to welcome all who are interested – please consider visiting the Home in person. Spend time talking to staff members, managers and residents. Enjoy a tour of the wonderful Home and its surroundings. Fancy staying for lunch? Even consider working for us or have time for volunteering at Princess Christian Care Home?
Please feel free to call me on 01483 488 917.
