It is with heartfelt thanks that I write to express gratitude on behalf of myself and my family for the high standard of care and attention that my husband received during his stay at Princess Christian Care Home. I also wish to acknowledge that this standard of care was achieved during the time you and your staff were dealing with the Covid pandemic which meant that you had extra challenges and responsibilities to protect all residents and staff during this time.
When my husband was admitted, we were aware that he would present some challenges as he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Also moving from home to a strange place and meeting people he did not know must have been a difficult experience for him. However, the nursing and care staff were amazing, coping with his anxiety and unpredictable behaviour, including night wanderings! Their calm, patient and gentle approach encouraged his cooperation and even enabled them to share his sense of humour. The excellent care he received eventually helped him to settle and accept where he was, as friendly and homely.
Throughout his stay we were regularly kept informed of his condition and I was contacted to discuss significant changes that may be required to meet his needs, which was both helpful and reassuring.
In particular, I wish to acknowledge the supportive care and respect we received during the latter days of my husband’s life. Being able to be by his side when he died was very special and so memorable. The palliative care he received was exemplary, and the kindness and respect given to each of us during his end of life care was so very comforting during that difficult time.
I shall miss visiting Princess Christian Care Home in future. The staff are so courteous and friendly, it has been like being part of a family. Perhaps when this pandemic is over I shall be able to come and thank you all in person.
