How lucky we are to have this care home…

How blown away I was to visit an old resident of mine today 3.2.2016, no one knew I was going a surprise for my lady. Pulling up looking around the car park 1st impressions count I thought “this looks very nice clean” etc. I went round the back to get in as advised on the main door, another visitor let me in. I followed this lady, I could hear music playing and laughter all over the building. As I walked to the large lounge I saw my friend. She was laughing chatting away to another person, she saw me and straight away I could see in her eyes how contented she was, she had put on weight I am pleased to say, dressed nicely her nails painted which was strange to see as I have known this lady for 14 years never known her to have paint on her nails. She agreed how nice they looked. All the stories you hear or see on t.v / radio shocking most of them. This home was fabulous, I was invited to stay for lunch. Hats of to the chef, very nice, I am sure my hips wont agree though, we sat had lunch, pudding and a cup of tea. The staff have their hands full with some of the residents but so helpful speaking so nice to the residents. I met the manager again professional kind understanding, they couldn’t do enough for you. I came away so happy and settled what a lovely experience the best care home I have have visited in years by far Its a shame the t.v and papers don’t go and see these places, how lucky we are to have this care home for our local dementia patients. Keep up the good work people, what a lovely team you are. p.s I have been in the care work from working in emi. to housing. care homes . nursing homes. carer as well. Now in the private sector. Believe me I have seen some bad run places and some very nice care homes, but this place was special, no horrid hidden smells, nothing false, the atmosphere was beautiful.
regards.
