May Celebrations at Princess Christian Care Home

International Nurses Day

Saturday 12 May marked ‘International Nurses Day‘, which we celebrate each year with our dedicated nurses at Princess Christian Care Home, to let them know how much they mean to us. We had some delicious cakes and fruit smoothies and all our nurses were presented with a fantastic nurse award certificate, as well as a card and voucher from our Manager Mario.

Royal Wedding Celebrations

We had our own Royal Tea Party here at Princess Christian on Saturday 19 May, to celebrate the Royal Wedding. We served scrumptious scones, drizzled with strawberries and clotted cream, as well as bucks fizz and fruit smoothies. Our residents loved having their photos taken with hats and flags, and many were glued to the television, watching the happy couple get married.

Dementia Action Week 20-27 May

We were kept busy fund-raising during Dementia Action Week (21 – 27 May) and on Thursday, National Memory Day, we launched our new ‘Wishing Tree Project‘ and the branches are rapidly filling up!

On Friday we held a celebration to end the week. Instead of releasing balloons, this year we planted 3 rose bushes which were named English Princess, Loving Memories and Spirit in the Sky. These were planted in our memory garden by our guest David Mansfield, a Councillor from Bisley, Sylvia Stock wife of resident Brian and Mario our Manager.

Our amazingly talented singer Najwa entertained our lovely residents and their families – many taking to the floor to show off some impressive moves! This was followed by a delightful buffet supplied by our talented catering team, which included sausage rolls, cheese platters, fresh fruit cocktails, smoothies and chocolate gateaus.
