Nellsar residents take mini virtual cruise to three sunny destinations

Nellsar virtual mini cruise

Over the past three months, we’ve taken our residents to some beautiful destinations on our Nellsar virtual mini cruise. This comes after the success of previous ‘Around the world with Nellsar Cruises’, when our teams recreated popular holiday destinations in their Homes including Hong Kong, India, Spain and the Caribbean.

This time around, we chose three new countries, full of colour and culture – Mexico in January, Egypt in February and finishing with Japan in March.

Our Recreation and Well-Being Teams across Nellsar were tasked with bringing these countries alive for their care communities — with decorations, costumes, music, food and a healthy dose of adventure!

Mexico brought sombreros, piñatas and more! Our Chefs dazzled with their incredible Mexican food including chilli con carne, vegetable burritos and chicken fajitas.

Arriving in Egypt saw residents immersing themselves in this fascinating country through trivia, quizzes, games and arts and crafts. Delicious food on offer included stuffed vine leaves, falafel and lamb kofta.

Our Homes came alive with geishas, sumo wresters, tea tasting and even a karate-themed exercise class for our final cruise destination, Japan! Our residents enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and art in particular, and were once again treated to some authentic cuisine including katzu curries, tempura prawns and sushi.

Nellsar’s Recreation and Well-Being Manager Viv Stead commented:
“Our residents and team members were delighted to set sail on our virtual cruise again this year. It has been such a great success in the past and injects great excitement across all of our Homes, promoting positive well-being and reminiscence through meaningful activities.”

Huge thanks to all our amazing Recreation and Well-Being and Kitchen teams for their incredible efforts to bring Mexico, Egypt and Japan to life across our Homes for all our residents to enjoy.

What a memorable cruise it was!
