Nellsar’s Great British Care Awards Shortlist Success

Nellsar Care Homes are extremely proud to see 11 of our staff members recognised as some of the most influential members of the social care sector – having been named as finalists in the prestigious Great British Care Awards 2022, which celebrate excellence throughout the industry.

The shortlisting acknowledged four team members from St Winifreds Care Home in Deal, including Andrew Maclean in the ‘Care Home Chef/Cook Award’ category, Dee Heath in the ‘Frontline Leader Award’ category, Julie Bastable in the ‘Dementia Carer Award’ and Louise Paxton, who has been recognised for the ‘Ancillary Worker Award’.

In addition, Cosmin Cristea will represent Princess Christian Care Home in Woking, in the ‘Care Home Chef/Cook Award’ category while Andra Ciurea at Abbotsleigh Care Home is up for the ‘Care Home Worker Award’. Several members of the businesses’ senior staff were also shortlisted, including Adrian Silaghi and Jinu Jose in the ‘Workforce Development Award’, Adrian Silaghi in the ‘Care Home Chef/Cook Award’, Jinu Jose in the ‘Three R’s Award’, Leni Wood in the ‘The Care Innovator Award’, Paula Persaud in the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award’ and Viv Stead in the category of ‘Activity Coordinator Award’.

Discussing the nominations, Glenda Osmotherly, Director of Operations at Nellsar, said: “As a care provider, we are extremely humbled to see so many of our inspiring employees shortlisted for such a prestigious showcase of excellence throughout the sector. We wholeheartedly believe that as a family-run business, we continue to place family at the core of what we do each and every day, and have been doing so for almost 35 years – which is reflective of those hired to carry out such values.”

Meanwhile, Martin Barrett, Managing Director at Nellsar, said: “I’d like to personally take the opportunity to commend all my fellow colleagues for their unwavering efforts and fantastic work all-year round – you’ve all been amazing! We’re one big family and it’s incredible to see how staff have rallied together throughout unprecedented times to constantly support each other when facing adversity. Every nominee is a credit to the business, all of which have worked tirelessly to establish a culture of compassion and care — values that have ensured that Nellsar continues to go from strength to strength.”

Now in its 14th year, the Great British Care Awards, which represent all areas of the social care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care. The awards event is all-inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers – promoting joint working.

Winners of the Great British Care Awards are selected regionally and from several care sectors, as well as nationally with regards to leadership, innovation and the spirit of family business leaders, professional advisors and previous winners.

Judging will take place today – Tuesday 18 October – before the winners are announced at a gala dinner event at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton on Friday 18 November.
