Dear Mario, Thank you so much for your letter giving such a clear and detailed account of the events being actioned in Princess Christian Care Centre during the activity of COVID-19. It is both comforting and encouraging to read about all that is taking place to safeguard residents and staff at such a challenging time. As I have said before, both the leadership and the work being done by all levels of staff at Princess Christian Care Centre is truly remarkable.
Of course I do find being separated from J to be a painful experience, like a grief that is not supposed to be. However, the contact methods used by the staff to enable us to make direct contact with each other have been helpful. At first it was very difficult for J to cope and he became distressed as he did not seem to understand; this of course made me anxious. So, I thought I had better stop and just write to him, as the telephone seemed to distress him so much. However,I would like to say how thankful I have been in recent days to have made connection with J via the both the phone and FaceTime.
Thanks to Lucy from the Activities Team, twice this week, Lucy judged a time when J was really awake and relaxed, she then patiently and skilfully encouraged him to speak to me. Of course I was overjoyed at being able to hear, see and speak with J in such a calm peaceful atmosphere.
Please would you let Lucy know how much I have valued her ability to read J’s state of being to enable him to contact fully and enjoy the experience as much as I did.
