Nellsar Homes enjoy summer parties and BBQS

We love the summertime across our Homes and the chance to make the most of our gardens and outdoor spaces, especially with family and friends. The recent warmer weather has seen many of our Homes host summer fetes and annual BBQs which are always popular with visiting loved ones and children. Our teams have gone ‘all out’ on their themed decorations, fun games and prizes, as well as delicious BBQ food, cakes and desserts. Good times!

Lulworth House Residential Care Home summer fete

On Saturday 12 August Lulworth House had a great afternoon as residents and their friends and relatives joined in for drinks, food, games and entertainment! They had a number of stalls including tombola, raffle and bric-a-brac and their Kitchen Team provided a delicious BBQ. They also welcomed a 60s singer who got everyone dancing and singing!

Annual summer BBQ at The Old Downs Residential Care Home

Staff and residents at The Old Downs had a fantastic time at their annual family barbecue on 15 August, with singer Jasmine providing wonderful entertainment. They also had some great prizes for their raffle and raised £150 for their residents’ fund.

Lukestone Care Home hosts Hawaiian summer fete

The team at Lukestone celebrated a grand Hawaiian summer fete on Saturday 19 August, welcoming all friends and family of their residents and staff. The event was held in their garden and Paula’s Pantry there they had their very own ‘Tiki bar’ where mocktails were being served. They had art and crafts stalls, guessing games, plus a tin can alley, wet sponge throw, limbo and coconut shy games. Musician Rob T joined them for the party, creating a fantastic atmosphere and Assistant Chef Bhim and their Kitchen Team made delicious burgers and hotdogs for the event.

Annual BBQ party at Hengist Field Care Home

Hengist Field’s beach-themed BBQ on Saturday 26 August was a fantastic day! They decorated their large Orangery garden with wind breakers, a Punch and Judy, photo booth, handmade beach huts, fishing nets with shells, fish and their own handmade resin shells and starfish, plus a sand pit, buckets and spades, pools of water, swing ball, splat the rat and more! They had lots of arts and crafts on sale, plus a tombola stall with some lovely prizes. Their Chefs prepared an amazing BBQ feast and Rob T provided musical entertainment with his ukulele.

Hawaiian BBQ summer party at Loose Valley Care Home

Loose Valley residents were treated to an amazing Hawaiian BBQ party on Saturday 26 August with live entertainment from Kevin Walsh and Barry Barton. Their Tiki bar was decorated with grass skirts, pineapples and flamingos, with plenty of drinks on offer and they gave lei flowers to everyone as they entered the party, amidst a backdrop of palm trees, coconuts, inflatable banana and more flamingos!

Woodstock Residential Care Home residents have fun at a Mad Hatters tea party

On Monday 28 August everyone at Woodstock was invited to a ‘Woodstock in Wonderland Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’! One condition to enter was that you must wear your maddest hat to be part of the Woodstock in Wonderland’s festivities and they had so many amazing hats on show, with family and friends voting for the best ‘Mad Hats’. They tucked into a wonderful BBQ and a feast of desserts for pudding! They also welcomed magician Mr Fizz who made a white bunny rabbit appear before their eyes!

Abbotsleigh Care Home Wild West summer party

Abbotsleigh recently hosted their annual barbecue party; this year’s theme was Wild Wild West. Their Chefs and Kitchen Team excelled themselves with the BBQ and a magnificent Wild West Cake and they had a visit from the RDA ponies who they spoiled with apples and carrots. As part of the fun they all enjoyed some line dancing led by the musicians Caz and Ellie.

Annual carnival day at Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

On Wednesday 30 August Sonya Lodge hosted their annual carnival day, bursting with colourful banners, bunting, games, signs, homemade decorations and even a homemade balloon arch! They kicked off the celebrations with a BBQ and enjoyed their garden. Families joined in the afternoon and had fun dressing up in frilly tutus, colourful wigs, photo props and headbands! Singer Graham provided the entertainment and sang a mix of Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and more. Residents also enjoyed different carnival themed games in the garden such as bowling, skittles, hoop toss and bean bag toss. Great fun!

Meyer House Care Home garden party

Residents and staff at Meyer House enjoyed a lovely afternoon at their annual garden party at the end of August and the sun was on their side. Lots of family members came to join in the fun, including families of past residents, which was lovely. Everyone tucked in to lovely food and they even had a visit from Mr Whippy – a perfect afternoon was had by all!
