Healthy Eating Ambassador Phoebe meets Nellsar’s Nutritional Therapist

On Tuesday 5 February, local student Phoebe Highfield from St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Sittingbourne, met with Nellsar’s Nutritional Therapist, Leni Wood.

Phoebe, age 11, has recently been selected as a ‘Healthy Easting Ambassador’ at her school. In her role, she aims to help promote healthy eating and wellbeing within her school and at lunchtimes; supporting education by highlighting healthy choices.

She met with Leni to discuss her Nutritional Therapy role within Nellsar and find out how nutrition is used to care for residents, as she liaises with Nellsar’s Chef teams.

Leni explained the role of ‘Nutrition Champions’ within Nellsar Homes and how this is similar to Phoebe’s role of Healthy Eating Ambassador.

Leni provided useful and fun tips, and advice for healthy food choices and good hydration, including having a varied ‘rainbow diet’, replacing certain foods with healthy alternatives and the importance of water for concentration and fuelling the brain!

Phoebe’s brother Zachary, who also attends St Peter’s School, joined in the discussions and told Leni what he understood about healthy eating – giving examples of his favourite foods!

Phoebe can now take all this information back to school and share her knowledge with teachers and students, which will be of great benefit to the school’s Healthy Eating initiative.

Thank you to Leni for providing such a great insight into her work and good luck to Phoebe in her new role, we know you’ll make a great Ambassador!
