Respite Care and Short Breaks

Living in lockdown – Easter and beyond

During these unprecedented times, the challenges of coping alone or within an extended family bubble can be overwhelming. These changes in circumstances may not be sustainable and can take their toll on all the family, especially if a loved one needs to recuperate following an illness, fall or stay in hospital.

If this sounds familiar, it might be time to consider Respite Care or Short Term Care.

Peace of mind

At Nellsar we offer peace of mind for those needing safe, supportive and person-centred Respite Care. Our friendly Homes offer an attractive package for short stay visitors – tailored care from expert staff, excellent facilities, a wonderful choice of food and dining options, and engaging activities – all set within a homely environment, with the opportunity to relax, make friends and enjoy a restored sense of wellbeing.

Expert care

We take pride in the way we care for our residents. Our Care teams are on hand to support every individual’s medical and well-being needs. Whether that’s daily personal care, or simply a massage – you’re in good hands with us.

A family member with Dementia may be feeling particularly unsettled at this time and loved ones may be struggling to cope. We combine safe facilities with staff expertise to provide individuals who have Dementia with a comforting and reassuring environment, where dignity and respect are paramount.

We also support individuals requiring post-surgery recuperation or rehabilitation, where extra focus is needed to ensure they are getting the care and attention they need while they regain their strength.

COVID Safe

Covid Safe Care homes
Safety and cleanliness are always our priority and are especially key during the COVID pandemic. We have taken rigorous steps to ensure our Homes are COVID safe, including a whole-Home vaccination programme for all our residents and staff and regular COVID testing. We also have stringent infection control procedures and comprehensive PPE in all our Homes.

In line with regulations, all new residents are COVID tested on admission and are required to spend the first two weeks of their stay in their room. From the comfort of their room they will get to know their team of Carers and enjoy one-to-one activities with our Recreation and Well-Being staff. We also have Resident Liaison Officers who provide the link between our residents and their family members; they schedule telephone and Zoom calls with loved ones and providing regular updates and reassurance.

Home from home

Our en-suite rooms are designed to make a stay relaxing and comfortable. Each is equipped with a smart TV and residents have exclusive use of their own iPad, which can be used for music, entertainment and keeping in touch with family.

Delicious home-cooked meals

Nellsar Homes offer delicious and varied menus to tempt all tastes. Our dedicated Chefs prepare fresh home-cooked meals using local ingredients to delight our diners every day.

Choose from an enticing range of meals, snacks and delicious desserts, which cater for a wide spectrum of diets including diabetic, vegetarian and soft meals. We also offer in-room dining and support at mealtimes if required.

Tailored activities and entertainments

Our Recreation and Well-Being staff offer a wide range of activities to make every day interesting and fun. From crafts and baking, to reminiscence activities and bingo, we make sure everyone enjoys their time with us and feels engaged with whatever pastimes they choose.

We also bring tailored activities to our residents who are staying in their rooms, so everyone feels included.

Why choose Nellsar?

Respite and Short Breaks offer the chance to experience being part of our Home community, where residents enjoy all the benefits of great care, excellent food and wonderful entertainment, in a safe and homely environment.
